In what episode of the Vampire Diaries does Damon sit beside Elena in the Salvatore house while she's writing?

I don't think she is writing in her journal in this scene; she was reading or studying one of the family journals. Obviously, they are at a point where Elena considers Damon a friend and feels comfortable with him (not sure about seasone one). Sorry I can't be more help.
