Pain in hip joint after i take pressure off of it while walking?

when you walk you obviously apply pressure when you step and relieve the pressure when you pick your foot up to take another step. my pain in left my hip isn't when i step on it and apply pressure, its when i take the pressure off as if i was picking my foot up to take another step. it hurts almost like a dull achy pain when a joint or something needs to pop, but it wont do it. or if it does, the pop is small and it still really hurts. i have snapping hip syndrome so my hips are always popping, but now my left hip hardly pops at all and it hurts really bad when i try to walk. the pain feels like it is mainly in the joint of my hip where my femur meets my pelvis, or also known as the ball and socket joint. is this a bad sign that my hip is finally going out after years of it popping all the time on its own? is this something that needs to be taken care of now or do you think the pain will go away? what do you think is wrong because i have no idea.
